Information of the Press Service Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan on the telephone conversation between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius

On July 17, 2020, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov had a telephone conversation with Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevičius.

Minister Linas Linkevičius congratulated Jeyhun Bayramov on his appointment as Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and wished him success in his future endeavors.

The Ministers exchanged views on a number of issues on the agenda of bilateral cooperation and prospects for their further development.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov informed his Lithuanian counterpart about the military provocation committed by the Armenian armed forces on the Azerbaijan-Armenia border and the ongoing tense situation in the region. He noted that the main reason for the tension in the region is the aggressive policy of Armenia against Azerbaijan which has continued for almost 30 years, and the military occupation of Nagorno-Karabakh and adjacent regions of Azerbaijan, as well as the conduct of ethnic cleansing in these territories against the local Azerbaijanis. It was emphasized that the only way to ensure sustainable peace and security in the region is the withdrawal of the occupying Armenian forces from all the occupied territories of Azerbaijan and ensuring the return of all internally displaced persons to their homes.
